We have been contacted by the ISRS in relation to the wearing of glasses on the field of play. I am writing to remind all clubs that the safety of each player is paramount and is the responsibility of the Referee on the day. Under Law 4 of the laws of the game, the referee must ensure that the players equipment is in compliance and ensures players safety at all times. This includes the wearing of glasses or anything the referee deems dangerous. Parents / Guardians telling referees that they will take responsibility is unfortunately not acceptable for the referees. I hope this message can be relayed to your members to avoid any unnecessary upset on the day of a game.
