In line with the format to play the 2021 Kennedy Cup on a regionalised groups basis please see the attached groups list and the draw will be carried out this evening for home and away fixtures accordingly.:
Please bear in mind that to keep the travel involved down, there has to be flexibility in the composition of those groups and it is not possible to have a “normal” open draw for that reason.
The overall parameters were to keep all 1st seeded teams apart and then try, as far as possible, to include as comprehensive a spread of the other seeds across all groups, you will see we managed to get three groups to comprise 1st to 4th seedings.
Hopefully people will grasp the concept and are aware there is no possibility of staging a residential based tournament in Limerick, this is a one-off year and hopefully we will be back to normal for 2022, the finishing positions in this year’s tournament will not count in the rolling list of seedlings going forward..
The schedule for all 2021 games will be as follows:
Group Stages:
Match Day 1 – 11/12th Sept
Match Day 2 – 2nd/3rd October
Match Day 3 – 23rd/24th October
Quarter Finals – 13/14th Nov 2021
Semi Finals – 4/5th Dec
Finals – 11/12th Dec
All games will be played on a home or away basis except for the Finals where the plan is to stage those at one neutral venue.
We are still working on formatting the Gaynor Cups on a similar model and we need to do a little more research to try and establish the Leagues playing strengths before we attempt to regionalise those groups, we expect to have that completed very shortly.
