The Football Association of Ireland is committed to ensuring that Children, Young Persons and Vulnerable Persons can participate in all football activities in a safe environment. Football provides an excellent opportunity to learn new skills, become more confident and maximise potential as members of teams and as individuals. Notice: – FAI Child Welfare and Safeguarding Department – 30th March 2020
Reference: Club/League Compliance Review- Children First Act and National Vetting Act
Dear Affiliates,
The FAI recognises the hard work and commitment many of you have put in to ensure your affiliated clubs are compliant with the relevant statutory obligations under the Children First Act 2015 and the National Vetting Act 2012-2016. We thank you for your efforts to ensure the safety and welfare of the children using your services under the jurisdiction of the FAI.
Due the current unforeseen and certainly unprecedented circumstances that the Country has found itself in it at the moment, the Association believe this would be an opportunity to monitor and assess where we are with this as a whole and where future support will be required.
Our Local Development Officers will be engaging with the clubs and Leagues and providing them with a Child Welfare and Safeguarding questionnaire and supporting form to complete and return.
Once the questionnaire and supporting form have been completed and returned, it will be reviewed by the FAI Child Welfare and Safeguarding department, within the Legal Department of the FAI. Once reviewed the club or League will receive a letter from the FAI confirming the completion of the review.
If you have any questions, please direct them to your Local Development Officer in the first instance who will liaise with the Child Welfare and Safeguarding department if needed.
We thank you all for your cooperation and assistance with this in advance.
Your Sincerely,
Kirsten Pakes
FAI Child Welfare and Safeguarding Manager
